Bill
van Ravenswaay had a vision in the late 1970's to start a truck
and heavy equipment repair shop in the Hamilton area. WG Equipment
Enterprises was formed out of Bill's vision, and has now been
successfully operating in Southern Ontario area for the past 27
years.
Bill's
son, Trevor van Ravenswaay, came on board in 1995 and is now a
ten-year veteran with the company obtaining his truck and coach
certification in 2000. Through their strong work ethic they are
able to meet the demands of a growing market with positive feedback
from their client base.
W.G.
Equipment purchases salvage trucks, equipment, insurance company
offerings and fleet disposals. Units acquired through these channels
are dismantled and sold; for parts, as re-buildable wrecks or
brought up to standards in our own 20,000 sq.ft. shop by qualified
technicians and then sold.
Trucks
branded salvage must pass a structural safety in order to be rebranded
as a re-buildable wreck. W.G. Equipment is one of only three area
companies, licensed by the Ministry of Transportation to inspect
these vehicles.
Containers
are loaded with heavy equipment and parts to be exported to Trinidad,
Jamaica, Venezuela and other foreign markets on a regular
basis.
An
iron-slag separation process operates, under contract with Poscor
for Dofasco. Recovered material is re-sold to Poscor and any remaining
in earth material is used as a base in the expansion of the Canfield
yard.
In
addition a metal salvage yard
is operated
on site, where scrap
metal is purchased from the public, then sorted and resold along
with scrap created by the internal operation.
